Step 3: Select the cell where you want to display the percentage.



Step 4: Enter an equal sign , then open parentheses and click to select the cell containing the data to calculate the percentage. In this example, that would be B1 .

Note: In Excel for Mac, you don't need to include parentheses for your calculations.



Step 5: Enter a slash in front, then select the cell containing the total data. In this example, the cell containing the total data would be A1 .



Step 6: Type a single quote and press Enter .

Step 7: A number will appear in the selected cell.



Step 8: Right-click the cell displaying the results and select Format Cells .



Step 9: Select Percentage . Adjust the number of decimals in the Decimal Places box , then select OK .
